The Maintenance Module is the essential tool for all types of database modifications. The Store Management Suite software includes a full featured maintenance program based on the SIL data dictionary. The Standard Interchange Language is a voluntary standard that is widely used by wholesalers and retailers for data exchange between systems.

The Maintenance Module has been designed to allow multiple entries in database tables for records that may differ from one region to another. Pricing management and point-of-sale taxability of products are good examples proving that the SMS software does offer true top-down store control for multi-store corporations.

Entering new products, changing prices, or defining item flags in the SMS maintenance screens has never been so easy. Items can be searched by a simple query based on single or multiple index(es), including description, UPC, vendor, size, category, family and many more.

Prices for similar items can be entered in one single step to avoid repetitive entries and save time. For example, if the state law concerning food stamps has been modified and all dairy products are no longer food stamp eligible, only one entry is required to apply this change on several hundreds of dairy products.

Different pricing columns are available for an item: regular retail price, TPR (Temporary Price Reduction), sales pricing and in-store pricing. In addition, price modeling can be used to base new prices on margin over cost, percentage, dollar increase/decrease with rounding, per item, or per batch.
